As a Green MP in Parliament
Since I entered Parliament in 2011, I have been working hard to win positive change for our climate and our communities. Here’s some of the key wins I’m proud of getting across the line as a minister in the 2017 Coalition Government and as a Member of Parliament:
- Campaigned for kids to be able to walk and cycle safely to school and delivered comprehensive policy and funding as Associate Minister of Transport for road safety and best practice street improvement for walking and cycling.
As the MP for Rongotai
In the 2023 election I had the great privilege to be elected as MP for the Rongotai electorate. Here is what we have achieved (so far!):
-
Successfully advocated for accessibility improvements to Kilbirnie Masjid.
- Stood with unionised workers and residents at Arvida Village at the Park against cuts to staffing hours.
- Successfully campaigned for Wellington City Council to carry on with pedestrian access and improvements to public transport through the Golden Mile, and connections to the Eastern Suburbs of Rongotai.
- Advocated for a new community garden in Newtown.
- Connected local conservation groups with funding to better protecting our natural taonga and biodiversity in Rongotai and the Chatham Islands.
- Advocated against cuts to Department of Conservation staffing hours on the Chatham Islands.
- Campaigned for safety improvements for kids at Island Bay School.
- Supported local businesses, Wellington City Council, residents and local Non-Governmental Organisations to have regular clean up days in Newtown.
