As a Green MP in Parliament

Since I entered Parliament in 2011, I have been working hard to win positive change for our climate and our communities. Here’s some of the key wins I’m proud of getting across the line as a minister in the 2017 Coalition Government and as a Member of Parliament:

As the MP for Rongotai

In the 2023 election I had the great privilege to be elected as MP for the Rongotai electorate. Here is what we have achieved (so far!):

  • Successfully advocated for accessibility improvements to Kilbirnie Masjid.
  • Stood with unionised workers and residents at Arvida Village at the Park against cuts to staffing hours.
  • Successfully campaigned for Wellington City Council to carry on with pedestrian access and improvements to public transport through the Golden Mile, and connections to the Eastern Suburbs of Rongotai.
  • Advocated for a new community garden in Newtown.
  • Connected local conservation groups with funding to better protecting our natural taonga and biodiversity in Rongotai and the Chatham Islands.
  • Advocated against cuts to Department of Conservation staffing hours on the Chatham Islands.
  • Campaigned for safety improvements for kids at Island Bay School.
  • Supported local businesses, Wellington City Council, residents and local Non-Governmental Organisations to have regular clean up days in Newtown.
