Kia ora!

My name is Julie Anne Genter and I have the privilege of being your local Green MP for the Rongotai electorate in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. I have been serving as the MP for Rongotai since 2023, and I am proud to represent such a vibrant community in Parliament. Our electorate covers some of Wellington’s most colourful suburbs, such as Newtown, Island Bay & South Coast, Strathmore, Lyall Bay, Kilbirnie, Miramar, Roseneath and Hataitai. Beyond Wellington, our electorate also includes the Chatham Islands.  

Myself and communities from around the world have come to call Rongotai home. Together, we have built a community that cares deeply for our taonga environments, which include our expansive coastal views and native bush. The people of Rongotai care about each other, and our environment.

I am here to keep fighting for what matters to Rongotai: community and climate. Too many are struggling with the cost of living, high housing prices, and inefficient transport options. I will push for more action on climate change, cutting emissions and taking steps today to ensure that our communities are set up for tomorrow.  

Rongotai can be a community where everyone has the resources that they need to live a good life, in a thriving environment. No matter what you’re going through, my office is open and ready to hear from you.
